That’s just not possible to pay for a house in cash until you’ve at least been working for 15 years

Exactly.

I am willing to take all of the bullets in this thread if one person in their 20s or 30s benefits from it.

Interesting. I’m in my mid 40’s and quite successful. My path did not include any of your advice.

Where are they supposed to live for 15 years until they buy this house in cash? Rent is as expensive as a mortgage in this area. Trailers in Ascension Parish are regularly advertised for $1500/mo.

This is about the only thing I agree with you on.

My biggest piece of advice is to not burden yourself with expenses that are unnecessary. Happiness does not lie in ‘working your arse off at the grind’ so you can drive a nice car. So many people have too much expensive shite for no other reason than they feel that’s what they’re supposed to have. Meanwhile, they enslave themselves to ‘the man’ forever.

True freedom lies in independence.

Awful advice. Enjoy being young, don’t waste your youth working all of the time.

This looks like advice from a 20 year old who's pretending to be a successful 50 year old.

And lol at the "start a business" cliche. Never mind actually having an idea for a business that adds value to the world.

You realize getting a low interest loan for a large purchase makes sense if you wisely invest your money.

Start your own business.

This is about the only solid advise you've given. But it's certainly not for everyone. I say this as someone who is a business owner.
quote:

Many weeks, you will need to work 7 full days. No one ever tells you this is necessary. It is necessary. Send your family on vacation. You need to stay home and work.

quote:

For the sake of yourself and your family, don't settle. Work your arse off.

No. You've been brainwashed into thinking work is more important than family. For the sake of your family, spend time with your kids while they're growing up. I started my business when our first little one was born, left the grind of 10-12 hour days to be able to see her grow up. The monetary success actually came naturally with family as my initial motivating factor, not necessarily the money.
quote:

Also, NEVER have debt.

As someone who sounds like they're attempting to come across as financially intelligent, this is some really, really dumb fricking advise If the return is higher than your interest rate, invest that shite rather than pay cash baw.

Accessing money with low interest was an important vehicle for me. I’d rather have cash and low interest debt than be debt free. If I had enough cash to buy one house outright, I’d try and spend that money to buy three with a mortgage on each.

This board is filled with people crying about how inflation, mortgage rates, etc, are ruining their lives. This happens in every generation. Our country presents opportunities like nowhere else, regardless of who is president. I had to figure things out on my own. When I was in my 20s, I wish someone had been blunt and laid everything out for me. That is why I felt compelled to make this post. If you are in your 20s, your life will be miserable unless you take one of these paths:

1.) Start your own business. You should move heaven and earth to do this. Take risks. Try multiple times.

2.) Find a business to business corporate sales role with uncapped commissions. This will allow your effort to determine your income. I know people who aren't particularly bright who W2 300K, 400K and more in roles like this.

3.) If you can't pull off the other 2, and you are going to work for someone else, you need to have a corporate role in the upper 2%. This usually means enhancing your education. Don't get a law degree or an MBA or any Masters from a non-elite university. Only from top schools.

Also, you need to work your arse off. A MINIMUM of 6 full days a week, every week. No exceptions. Many weeks, you will need to work 7 full days. No one ever tells you this is necessary. It is necessary. Send your family on vacation. You need to stay home and work.

People will try to talk you out of working this hard. They are either too lazy or too stupid to achieve, so they will try to bring you down to their level. For the sake of yourself and your family, don't settle. Work your arse off.

Also, screw the stock market. Screw a 401K. Buy real estate.

Also, NEVER have debt. No credit card debt you can't pay off every month. Never have a car payment. Save and buy your home in cash.

God damn there is 3:1 bad to good advice ratio here lol .
