If they get rid of the program --- and thus my responsibility for paying for it, allowing me to have extra money in my paycheck --- I would be even happier.

Yeah obviously. If the guy falls in the latter, criticize all you want. However, people use the fact that people in these protests call the police as a gotcha moment all the time. I don't get it in most cases.

You can see a prime example of that in the video of the Ferguson protestor getting run over. One minute, cops suck and need to get out. The next, "oh my God they're sitting over there and not doing anything!!"
