Lovely story to ruin your Friday night. LINK
Damn..

“What we do know is that people in the restaurant, everyone ran to the child's aid. Pulling furniture, turning over tables, trying to administer first aid, but just want not successful in saving the child's life,” said Sgt. Pickard.
The child was bleeding from the head, according to emergency officials, as he was rushed to a nearby hospital. He later died.

Thoughts and prayers to that family.
I'm gonna go hold my son for a little while.

That thing turns at a snails pace. I can't wrap my head around how this happened.

At first glance...
Why was this kid unsupervised at such a restaurant?
How did he manage to squeeze into the spot specified?
Why is there access to the civil/mechanical aspects of the structural portion of the building from the inside of the restaurant?
So many questions

I couldn't even read based on the title, it is too horrifying.

I have eaten there. I really don't recall anything structural or mechanical at all.

I've been there too. It moves so slow.

It's at the top of the Westin in downtown Atlanta. One of the tallest 2-3 hotels in the USA.

You would think that there would be enough safety measures in place to make this an impossibility.

Frick that's a terrible story. It's sort of like the alligator Disney story. Damn

Or maybe his parents could've actually been parents.

I mean, there has to be extenuating circumstances because there really isn't anything to get caught in that I saw when I was there that was open to the public

I wonder if a shoelace or some part of his clothing got caught in the seam between the rotating floor and the outer wall/windows and it was the tables and chairs that were still rotating that caused the injuries.
I've never been there and it's really hard to tell what happened based on the information in the linked story.

This is what I was thinking. This restaurant has been open at least since the 1980's, so needless to say it's been a very long time. The only thing I think that allowed him to get caught in a particular spot was that perhaps there was maintenance being performed at a location that someone may have removed some safety device.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

No. He wedged part of his body into the 4 inch space between the rotating restaurant and the stationary wall while wandering around the restaurant playing, etc.
At least that's how it was relayed in another article.
ETA - That's sort of how it reads in this article as well.
