Why is it so important for some people to announce to the world their sexual proclivities and then expect praise for it?
I don't feel the need to tell everyone that I like dressing up like Ceasar and smearing peanut butter across my forehead while I step barefoot on Legos and my partner, dressed as a giant wasp, whaps me with a pool noodle and sings Yankee Doodle while riding a poodle.
What we do behind closed doors is our business and no one else.

The guy has been out of the Navy since 2003. It seems like the bulk of the harassment detailed in the article was from other CIA paramilitary contractors on the "Global Response Staff".

In one of the most dangerous places on the planet, Jones wasn’t afraid of the hundreds of militants eager to kill anyone associated with the CIA, he was afraid of his own men – afraid of being the victim of an “accident” downrange – or afraid of being left behind if a mission went bad.
I call BS. Those around him are not trained to target him for any reason other than if he were the enemy or a spy.

I agree with the bold part. But is not like he was running around the middle east in daisy dukes and a pink tank top, while trying to bang his coworkers. They found out he was gay, which he didn't hide, and was nut just teased, but treated like crap and intentional made to feel like he wasn't part of the team..That's deadly as hell in a war zone.

Is it just me, or do SEALs love talking about being SEALs whenever given the chance?
That has not been my experience with them at all. I know 2 Seals and neither wants to talk about work. A buddy from high school is one, and I ran into him at a bar back home a few years ago right after he got out of BUDS. He told girls the Danny Dietz "Im an ice cream truck driver" excuse when they asked what he did for a living. I think the media loves polarizing groups/people though, and the Seals are polarizing because of their high risk, high reward missions they carry out. I think when the Bin Laden mission came out, followed by the movie Act of Valor showing a small glimpse of Seal life, it hit a fever pitch. Since then though, Seals have also fallen under some criticism and been vilified by some, Chris Kyle. A Seal will not back down from a fight, especially one over their character or intentions, so that is why more have come out to support the group lately. They defend their character and what they do, but they rarely if ever go out spouting off about their CSB missions.
About this story though, if Jones feels unsafe being gay around Americans, imagine what terrorists would do if they found out about his sexual orientation. Muslim religion is not nice to homosexuals.

I always thought of Spec ops guys as being older and more professional than regular military guys. Being gay wouldn't mean a damn thing to them, as long as the job got done. This dude's story seems like grandstanding and he wants his 15 minutes.

SO this fella here decided to join the most alpha of alpha organizations; the biggest badassed never-say-quit warriors in the world who will gladly take on numerically superior foes and expect to always win, and he cant take some joshing from his brothers? Everything I've read about SEALs say they give each other hell nonstop. Sorry, but I don't want my SEALs to be sensitive.
Sorry, but in this day and age, if you're not smart enough to just leave it alone, you're fricking up

??????
Thats cause you always hear about the badass missions they've been assigned and conquered. And they dont try to be flaunted unlike many gays and bisexuals.

And gays are even worse... gays love talking about being gay. Now take a SEAL and mix in some gay and you got yourself a guy that loves talking about himself.

I give no fricks about his sexual preference. I wish we all gave no fricks about each other's sexual preference. It just doesn't matter.

Jesus tapdancing christ.
A guy is gay. Big fricking deal...how so many people in our society are still so threatened by this and angered with it is literally beyond me.
