LSP doesn't use the phrase "high rate of speed" to characterize 70mph on the interstate.

Can anyone point to where the article stated that there was recklessness involved?

A 15 year old driving illegally on a state highway maybe speeding at 1 am in the morning with 4 other passengers....

Any questions?

That situation even existing is reckless behavior.

Thread hijack...

tLSU:
What ever happened with the Christopher Lee (Chad Huth murder) prosecution? Did it ever go back to trial after the hung jury?

15 year old driver?

15 is the driving age in Louisiana unless something has changed. But 1 am is still after curfew.

My guess is he snuck out of the house and took dad's car. He then picked up a few friends.

I have a 16 year old with a license who isn't allowed out past midnight.

Something's just not right about this story. Very sad for his parents.

15 to get a permit. Can’t drive without a licensed person in the vehicle.

16 year old licensed person can have no more than 1 person in the vehicle after 8pm

16 yr old cannot drive past 11pm without licensed person in the vehicle.

Good parents don't have kids that do that kind of crap.

What kind of crap? Speeding and having a blowout? Because until toxicology comes back, that appears to be all that he did wrong.

I'm sure you never sped.

Or did anything dangerous or illegal as a teenager.

But as an unemancipated minor, his parents do bear legal responsibility for his actions.

I’m not torn at all. The kid died. Parents should be left alone.

I'm assuming the other passengers in the car are also minors. Said in the article some of them with serious injuries. Which means lots of medical bills those parents will be dealing with in the future.

So you think they should just say "nah I'm not gonna sue the insurance company so that I'm not bankrupted by the medical bills for my child's injuries that were caused by another person."?

Question for those in auto insurance business...because the driver was only 15 and driving past the legal time....will his parent's insurance still even cover the other injuries?
