Feel good story of the day: Homeless to Harvard in Mississippi

Hunter Mollett hasn't had an easy life.
Not too long ago, the Mississippi high school senior was living in a trailer without power or water with just a griddle to cook on, and no food. He'd spend his nights on a park bench in hot, humid weather with mosquitoes biting him as he tried to sleep.
“The longest I remember going without food was four days,” Mollett recalls. “My parents got a bag of frozen peas that someone had put up way long ago. We cooked those and mixed up some cornmeal with water and fried it. That was the best meal I had eaten in my life. I never want to be without food again.”
Things are better these days, since the Enterprise High School student and accomplished trumpeter found out he was accepted into one of the most prestigious universities in the world — Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

That's what we here in 'Sippi call anorexic. Poor ole boy looks like he hasn't eaten in weeks.

So he ate no food on a griddle he couldn't power on?

But very cool story.

Good for that kid. Can't imagine what he went through. And to be able to succeed when you're going days without food is an incredible thing. And now hopefully he'll be set up for life

Yet some post-grads will bitch and moan because no one wants to pay off his 150k liberal arts degree or give him a job making 100k. This guy gets it though. No excuses. Doesn't give a shite where he's at, just hell bent on getting where he is going.
This is why America is the land of OPPORTUNITY

Very rare instance. Even with all the advantages one could have in life its only a miniscule % that get accepted or even apply.
Two things that do go hand in hand are Florida & Bath Salts though. A tale as old as time.

The best part about this story is he convinced a bunch of raging Liberals to feel compassion for a white, Southern male.

All things considered, its easier for a white baw from Mississippi to get into Harvard or any Ivy than it is for a trust fund kid with a perfect ACT/SAT score.
The article did not mention his ACT score, but a couple years ago there was a girl from Mississippi that went to Yale and she had a 30 ACT. That's good, but it doesn't scream Ivy League good.
Here is Harvard's acceptance graph

That graph is mind-boggling... person with below an 18 on the ACT and a 2.0 accepted to Harvard

Looks like the transgender minority was the 18 with a 2.5 GPA.
