Just finished a re-read of The Shining. Still think it's his masterpiece and holds up incredibly well. What say you?

The Stand.

It.

It is a scary book masterpiece. It is disturbing. Had to put IT down twice. Within 20 pages a boy had had his arm torn out at the shoulder and his "eyes fill with rain". A constant image through many King books.

Many great short stories. My favorite was Apt Pupil.

I think the Hunger Games borrowed a lot from The Long Walk.

No doubt about it. Tried telling my niece this but she wasn't having it.

lol.

A good friend of mine was a first and second asst. director on the first two films. I told him the same thing, but he was unfamiliar with The Long Walk. After reading it, he agreed that the plot was very similar.

I think in the collection of the Bachman books, is another story called The Body that later on became the film Stand By Me.
