I am able to look at it more objectively. I can look at the 60's 70's 80's and compare them and not have any bias.

... And I can't imagine being a teenager in any other decade. If I got to choose & do it over, I'd pick the 80s. I feel bad for my kids who missed it. They do, however, listen to & like most 80s music, plus 70s rock, & some early- mid 90s bands. Only stations programmed in my vehicle are 80s & classic rock. Zero, nor tats of any kind. The hair bands, overall, were my least favorite of the 80s. Each had maybe 1 or 2 "good" songs & that's about it. That didn't stop me from going to all of their concerts, though. They were usually a blast. ... I do still have a couple of Union Jack shirts left from Def Leppard shows. I loved the 80's Billy ocean, Michael Jackson, Madonna, U2, metal bands, Stevie B and depeche mode for club music. It had it all. The most variety I have seen it the last 50 years.

I was explaining this to my youngest not that long ago - that there was so much diversity in music back then, it was incredible. It was really impossible to pick a favorite song. Top 40 radio was awesome because of this. It never got boring or old.
And come to think of it, if I would've been dumb enough to get a tat from the 80s, it probably would've been ...

I mean the kids today are spoiled they can download their favorite artists and listen to there favorite genre at the click of a mouse. We used to have to listen to countdowns, Americas top 40, stay up late on weekends to listen to club remixes on the radio. And did we love us some music videos when they first came out.

I had pretty young parents who listened to great music, so I was listening to all of the popular music from birth. Every other preschooler had 45s of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" & other kiddie songs. My first 45 was "American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad, so I got introduced to rock & pop music very early on. ... But as for the 80s, the countdown was the best thing on radio because there were so many different great sounds - some true rock, some true pop, some a mix of both, some a bit punk, some a bit more metal, etc. Hell, you heard everything from Flock of Seagulls to The Clash, to Springsteen, to MJ, to Pink Floyd, to U2 to all the hair bands, etc., etc., etc., ... It was truly an awesome era in music.
... lol no, I am not a huge Nirvana fan, but to say they they were baisically Bon Jovi or Warrant is ridiculous.
