Best advice I can give is to swallow your pain, frustration, fear and anger and stay as positive as possible for him. It's the worst feeling knowing there is nothing you can do (firsthand experience here), but strength and understanding are some things that could mean everything. Don't leave anything unsaid. If he wants to talk, talk (no matter how inconvenient it may be at that moment). And above all, don't miss an opportunity to tell him you love him. So sorry for your troubles...hopefully everything works out.

Not sure your dad's situation but if you have access to HBO, you should watch.

VICE Special Report: Killing Cancer

Also totally unrelated, cannabis will slow the spread and help with nausea and hunger.

Sorry to hear about your father

started as prostate. now.......it's spread to the bones.

exactly what happened to my Dad. There's nothing to do for the cancer execpt make him comfortable. Get a good Cancer doctor. If in BR have him go to MBP and get hooked up with Dr. Hanson. Best down to earth, no BS doctor he ever went to. That's what y'all need right now. A doctor that will not fill your heads with false hopes.

he's already told us that he will just have to give him a series of shot to "prolong" life. however, I didn't think that it would spread so damn fast. I'm not ready to watch my big dad turn to nothing. how in the hell will I find the strength for that? does it just come natural at the end?

Prayers for you and your family.
It's tough and there will be days you'll fall apart. But you are also stronger than you realize.

urology health info (legit)

Look into:

preserving his bone strength (standing/weight bearing/walking)
calcium and vitamin D supplements
bisphosphonates

Many options for treatment depending on extent. Patients can live a long time with bone mets (if limited) or progress if more extensive

What are the Treatments for Advanced Prostate Cancer?

My father passed away from the same situation.

Spend as much time as possible with him and help out as much as possible if he gets to the point where he can't do things himself.

Can't really say anything that'll make it easier though.

that's what i was afraid of. Time to get some good hospice care for your Dad. Let him live out the remainder of his days surrounded by loved ones in his home.

its safe to say your god made cancer since he made everything right?

I watched my grandmother die of brain cancer. That was hard especially seeing how much a person could actually suffer.

To OP:Good luck and do everything you can to be with him. I have no prayers to offer since I dont believe prayer does anything but waste my time. If it actually worked people wouldnt get cancer in the first place.

I was replying to the douchebag that said to get right with god. Thats a stupid thing to tell someone. I had cancer myself. Im not stupid enough to think it was prayer that beat it.
