They went out of business more than 10 years ago. Maybe 15 years. Their locations were bought up by Rite Aid I think. Maybe someone else. I can't remember.

I don't see anything in the article to indicate that Family Dollar will be launching its own beer/wine brand. They're just going to start selling beer and wine in their stores.

It's just a mini walmart

This. They don't have the selection of course. But they tend to be more conveniently located, they are competitive on cost and you don't have to navigate through a building several football fields in size to get two or three items. Plus they actually have cashiers instead of those self checkout things that about 40 percent of the population can't seem to utilize without causing delays.

Dollar General > Family Dollar though.

A Dollar General or Family Dollar (or any store with dollar in the name) is generally a sign that you are in a bad area.

Keep going and buy your booze somewhere that is not robbed daily.

I have purchased wine and beer at the Orange Beach Dollar General.

I also "enjoyed" K&B's scotch and beer back in the day.

Not around here. Might just be in your neck of the woods.

Not always. A lot of times you'll find them in small towns or rural areas, where there aren't Walmarts or even major grocery stores close by.

They did not go out of business. They sold to Rite Aid and still owned all of the land and Rite Aid sold to CVS and they still get rent on the properties. They made a fricking killing.

It was always a real estate play for them.

Whatever. Close enough. I was about 9 when it happened. The point is that the stores aren't around anymore.
