Just find a place that has a crazy cheap flight deal and go. Unless you really want to spend a lot of time in the car, there's not a whole hell of a lot worth driving to in a short distance from BR.

Memphis is a good idea, they have cheap flight out of Nola called flyglo or something like that

Was very tired last night so didn't get a chance to look until now. As far as cheap getaway flights from the BR/nola area, the cheapest I'm seeing is either houston for $87 roundtrip or Las Vegas for $197 roundtrip. That would be Sat Dec 26- Thurs Dec 31. If you want something like a beach trip, I can also look for those
