One thing stood out to me, it's the furthest thing from a melting pot I've ever seen. Just an observation, wasn't a very difficult one.

I know, right? It's weird. It's almost like people will pay a premium to not live among scummy people.

Tiger114 is full of crap... The commute back & forth from Mobile to Fairhope is horrible. You will be stuck in heavy traffic behind vehicles with louisiana tags. They slow down on the Bayway to gawk at the Battleship, & go 20 mph through the Wallace tunnel, & blow their damn horns. They don't sell crawfish or nutria rat meat there either. Don't come here. Stay away..

Fairhope is MILF Central. There are many, many, many girls here that make AJ's mom look like 3 miles of bad road.

Yeah, that stretch can get kind of bad, but that's just South Alabama for ya.

I've visited there a few times. Picked up the local paper once and got a kick out of a big fight over some proposed regulations on, I think, limits on fish and such taken during a jubilee.

A letter writer made a good point about Yankees and city folk moving there to retire because they liked the charm and ways of the town, then they get on the local council and try to pass rules to make it shitty like the places they just fled.

Jesse's is great. It's a must visit when in that area.

Just venting... Been Lakewood Members for years. Try to avoid the Grand during the Summer, because that louisiana trash is trash. 1 star people at a 4 star facility.

Well we wouldn't go in expecting to change it or anything. We're pretty classy folk.

lived in Daphne / Mobile for 6 years. Loved it. I would move back tomorrow if my wife would leave her family. Gulf Coast/Eastern shore of Alabama is awesome. Awesome public schools, great golf courses, all the salt and freshwater fishing you want to do. Fairhope is clean and laid back. And you are a few hours from BR, New Orleans Pensacola, Destin. highly recommend

What I meant was this was very apparent to me, especially coming from someone who lives in New Orleans. Only AAs I saw were the workers at the Grand. It was like walking into a SEC fraternity

It was Crisco....

No, I (obviously) love Fairhope. My family has had an association with the place dating back to the Civil War. Its a great little town with a relatively good amount of stuff to do. My favorite part is Point Clear/Battles Wharf. That's where I got married and we have a house. The boardwalk to the South and North of The Grand is awesome....especially at sunset.

We've been members at Lakewood for years. Its one of my favorite courses but the RSA is really a pain in the arse for the members. The Grand has become extremely corporate and instead of turning the area into a Sea Island type place (they have the money, land, and resources to do so), they seem content to just make it a glorified Marriott.

There's a lot to do in Fairhope and the surrounding areas, but I won't list them all here. However, the best eating spots downtown are Master Joes, Camellia Cafe, and Panini Pete's.

Interesting factoid about Fairhope. The town was founded by a group of a communist as a utopian commune,

I can't walk there, but I can take a kayak from our river house. Looks like you are right across the river from us.
