Found out my dumb arse stepson license expired at the end of September. There is only a 30 day grace period in the state of La if I'm correct? His license has been suspended if I had to guess. Could he be arrested if he was stopped by law enforcement(please say yes). Also, I have couple of cop friends. Is there a way to find out if the vehicle has insurance just from running a plate? TIA

They don't suspend you for having an expired license. However, flags (which result in a suspension) may be the reason why he hasn't renewed.

He can be ticketed, have the expired license taken and given the slip of paper at the bottom of the ticket granting temporary driving privileges unless there are other infractions on his part.

Also depends on the officer/deputy/trooper.

When mine was expired for a few months, I just had to go to the DMV and retake the eye test. If it's expired for long enough, you have to take the written test, too, but I don't know how long that is.

My license has been expired since Sept... No they do not suspend it. You will just get a ticket. I'm going to renew mine in the morning though. Yes they can run your plate to see if you have insurance, but you can get a ticket for not having proof.

I am not a lawyer so the license part could be untrue

Mine had expired so long that I had to retake the driving part of the test - damn embarrassing but at least I passed.

don't listen to this tard. I got pulled over twice with a suspended license. You just get a ticket, some sky-rocketed insurance premiums and another year of suspension from that point. All because I thought I'd be cool and not worry about the speeding ticket i got in chicago

I couldn't buy beer at albatross's once because of this stupid shite. Then the dumbfricks wouldn't let my wife buy it either because, and I quote "she's with you"

Mine wasn't expired but marriage has taken such a toll on me that people didn't believe my license picture was actually me.

Had several waitresses tell me "If you didn't look well over 21 I would not serve you, because that license picture looks nothing like you."

Finally just went and got a new pic (told them I lost my license) just to avoid the demoralizing conversations.

That was a few years ago, just had a kid, so I am guessing I will have to get another new pic in a couple of years.

Yea it's the stupidest shite I've ever heard.... So one day my license is a legal ID, but one day later it's not valid. What has changed in that time?

I understand why you need to renew it for driving purposes, but for identification it shouldn't matter.
