Moved from back vacherie to front vacherie. No desire to move back.

For all their pretentiousness, Austinites are frequently type A go-getters and have southern-ish manners.

Just moved here from Uptown New Orleans.

2 things I'm appreciating right now.

1) people seem to drive with purpose at a nice clip. Not ambling around at 10 under.

2) wow, people haul arse with their shopping carts at the HEB and I love it.

Which HEB do you shop at? Some of them have their own interesting character.

The one thing that REALLY sucks about Austin, aside from the terrible freeway "system" and the outrageously expensive water, is that bag ban. God, I forgot how much I hate bringing my own bags.

Oh well, take the bad with the good.

I grew up in Madison and went to college in Madison. It was fun as a lot of my high school friends ended up going to Wisconsin, too. It was great being able to have that familiarity going into college while also becoming friends with an abundance of other people.

However, once I graduated, me (and it seems like everyone else) immediately moved to Chicago, which is only a couple hours south of Madison.

I'm sure I'll move back, but I'm just not ready.

Left Bogalusa in 59 to go to LSU. Never lived there again. No regrets.

Oh man, the people watching at that one!

I used to live on South Congress and loved all the weirdos you'll see in there.

I bet that location does more business per square foot than any other location. It's tiny compared to their more modern stores and always packed.

yea I moved away for almost 6 years. Moving back was the best decision i have made in my life. Met my wife when I moved back, had kids and built a life. Being close to family and life long friends is invaluable imo.

Doesn't hurt that I turned my life around once I moved back though, so my experience doesn't really apply 100% in this situation.

I've left, never moved back though. Honestly, every time I visit, I am instantly reminded on why I wanted to leave in the first place. A couple of days and I'm ready to go home.

I moved away right out of high school and have stayed here in Baton Rouge since. I am originally from Beaumont, TX so it is about a 3 hour drive. I feel it is close enough to make as many trips as I want but the truth is I probably only go 3-4 times a year. I do feel like I am missing out on a lot with my family, especially with all my cousins and my brother having children now. However, I have my own life over here and I am not giving up a career and my happiness just to be around their happiness. That doesn't make enough sense.
