Anyone been recently, if so how was it? What is the minimum bet these days and how are the crowds?

go during the week. much better crowd. I've seen people put 2 bucks on races.

I went last weekend and slept at the hotel. pretty nice place for the price.

if you go during the weekend, expect a crowd that is not very fun to be around.

I do my betting online, so can't tell you about the crowds, but the racing is decent. Most of the horses are on a circuit with Delta Downs, with a smaller number that have been running at Fairgrounds or another big track.

Was looking into going myself, haven't been there yet. I'd like to know about the amenities ratings from those who have been and overall experience if I were going to make a day or 2 out of it.

It's a shithole and a bit of race fixing goes on. I hate evd. Minimum anywhere from $1 to $.10 for supers.

Full of unattended children running around and screaming too.

its not a shithole, delta downs is a shithole. I feel like Im stepping back 60 years when I go to delta.

id say its about 40% black, 30% mexican, and 30% white. occasionally trash from lafayette come over and slum up the place. the racing and odds are usually pretty decent.

the facilities are decent, but I think they could do some things to make the racing experience better. a better screen to watch the race, some bleachers to see the race better, putting the odds board back above the paddock, etc

You can't bet on races there outside of ED for a reason

We occassionally go and get a table upstairs and look down at the peasants below.

Seriously though we always have a good time doing that. I believe it's around $20 a person and you get all the food you want and have a wait staff for drinks, etc. I don't know shite about horse racing but always have fun anyway.

Yeah I've never gone without getting a table. The bar in the casino is great for people/trash watching.

The trash is certainly plentiful but I figured that just comes with any local track.

Diat I had a legit time last time I was there
It's been about 3 years though. I don't get back to st. Landry much anymore. I usually just go to gamble and do slots and I suck at horse race betting can't help anyone in that department. Overall your discription was pretty good

Having been on the backside of both, I prefer delta

Though both are bad. More shady shite happens at evd, though

opelousas is great. its the trash from lafayette, carencro, port barre, krotz springs and other towns along those lines that trash it up.

oh and I think burdman has an alarm go off whenever opelousas is mentioned.
