I am getting back into it as well, I just ordered a 2015 TREK X-Caliber 6 to start off - hardtail 29er, great entry level components, hydraulic disc brakes - $699 OTD

Nice, I didn't think Trek would let you in the door for $699.

I think I've decided on a Raleigh talus 29er. Any feedback on this brand?

Firsthand advice: If it's your first bike, save money and buy used because you will tear up the front wheel quickly.

Buy new only when you know you'll keep riding!

Ps: remember to share the path.

My brother in law told me to stay away from this brand. He is big into mountain biking FWIW.

I found a rarely used Felt Nine Trail 29er on craigslist... gave the dude something like $400 for it

You can find good bikes there, just need to be patient and check daily
