i'm a grown up, and even though i dont like it, i can deal with it. it becomes more of an issue when i've got my 3 year old with me. basically my young child has to walk through a cloud of smoke just so some a-hole can have his "rights"

and its not just employees, its patrons as well. every grocery store in houma always has 2 or 3 pieces of trash smoking outside the door.

I can't imagine that there was a time when smoking on airplanes was a thing. If I were a traveler in the 70's, I might have had to drive everywhere....

There was still smoking on flights into the 1990s,

"The U.S. ban on inflight smoking began with domestic flights of two hours or less in April 1988, extended to domestic flights of six hours or less in February 1990, and to all domestic and international flights in 2000."

It's actually not insignificant at all to children or adults with asthma. Are you saying people who know the smoke will trigger an asthma attack should just politely wait until the smoke has cleared before entering the grocery store?

I think it's wrong for both employees and patrons to smoke anywhere near building entrances. The smoker should choose to smoke in their car or at the back of the parking lot where they would expose less people.

People certainly have the right to smoke, but others should have the right to not be exposed when walking into main entrances.

What did you snowflakes do back in the 70's, 80's and 90's when smoking was allowed EVERYWHERE...including airplanes

I don't like it but I'll still shop there. I think in TN it's the law to be 15 ft from an entrance, which is what nasty arse smokers should do anyways.

Then again, since when do smokers care about how their shitty cigs effect those around them?

What if Jesus is smoking a cig outside the gates of heaven, are you not going to walk thru that cloud of smoke?

It will not stop me from going to a business, businesses are stupid to allow it if other areas are available. The last major corporation I worked for did every thing they could to not hire smokers, to those that will say how would they know if I smoke, every non-smoker knows you smoke.

sick people and their sick kids shouldn't be exposing themselves to smoke. Go somewhere else or wait for the smoke to clear. Its not difficult.

I just missed all that. The first time I ever flew on an airplane was in early 1991.

You are using snowflake way out of context here. My asthma is mild, but it is definitely exacerbated by cigarette smoke.

Just because it is insignificant to you doesn't mean it is that way for everyone. You're trying to be a tough guy here, and frankly, you look like an arse.

The guy you quoted made legit points.

When I stop by the grocery store on the way home from the gym early in the morning, there are usually 5-6 workers sitting on the patio furniture they sell out front smoking. Stinks to high heaven, but it doesn't stop me from going in. The most aggravating part is trying to find a parking spot with buggies scattered all over the parking lot when there are half a dozen employees sitting there on a smoke break.

you could cut your workout short and pick up said buggies.

they get to smoke and you get a workout win/win

My wife's company moved the smoking area from the side of the building to actually to the rear ... behind a dumpster.
