Thought that was interesting. Sales tax, unlike income tax, treats every consumer fairly. Unless you are using government assistance, apparently.

Yeah. They also have two transactions. One where you shrimp, filets and the cups for the party. Another where you buy $150 in liquor for the party with cash.

You people criticize ebt but it really is a good program that benefits children mostly. You oughta see the smiles on my kids faces when I whip out the la purchase and say we're going to Tony's for boiled crawfish. They can't load up in the escalade fast enough!

You aren't thinking about this the correct liberal way.

People who are unfortunate enough to have little to no income through no fault of their own shouldn't have to pay tax at all. A sales tax is unfair because they would be paying a larger fraction of their income than you rich entitled people do.

The new EBT card is slightly over sized and won't fit in my Gucci wallet.

My friend owns a convience store.
Prepared foods you can use an EBT.
(Hotdogs, notucheeze, donuffins)
Ice cups, soft purple dranks, potatoe chips, and candy.

He says they magically find money for liquor which on a Sat or Sunday they come back 3 to 5 times to buy beer and cigars.

Funny that adds up quick and he was thinking maybe if they spent their money wisely they would not needz guberment assistanz.

I note the sarcasm.
Assistance should be short lived. Not a way of living.
I walked zip code 70805 doling out free meals through St. Vincent de Paul (and lived there too)
My best friend is a true "single mom". POS husband gave up his rights to his kids for the bottle, so no monetary assistance and yet, she has never been on welfare.
I don't get it.

They wouldn't actually be paying the tax, they would just be shuffling tax dollars to pay sales tax.

If EBT could only be used to buy rice, beans, discount meat, fruit, vegetables, and a handful of other healthy food you need to survive on no one would have an issue with it.

Yes, as a Tax Accountant I understand that. I was actually interested in the fact that there was no shuffling occuring.

Ain't nobody got time for a job when there's blunts to be smoked and King Cobra 40s to drank. Plus, someone has to be at home to watch the kids and work on their album that's dropping next year.

So why doesn't everybody go on government assistance? You don't work, the car doesn't get repoed right away, free food and phone...

Is it upbringing or moral instinct?

I assume you feel the same about church and other NP sales tax exemptions.

and King Vitamin cereal!

When I worked in the grocery store in high school W-I-C recipients were the only people who "bought" it.

The EBT not paying tax kind of makes sense. Just give them the net rather than giving them more to pay you back some.

What are the odds he is actually a white male? I'd say less than 50%

I always laugh at the ones, who use their ebt to buy prawns, crab legs, steaks, etc.
