Also, what kind of lasers are these? I find it hard to believe that this is the laser pointer that you can pick up from office depot.

This is what it looks like and it doesn't take something big and expensive to do it. shite is dangerous. Plenty of videos out there.

I think the green lasers are higher powered, they're generally more expensive than the cheap red lasers on key chains. While you see a dot at close range, at the distance of the aircraft, that dot becomes several inches wide or more. Think of looking into oncoming headlights at night but brighter. And then having to look at all your instruments with that light burned into your vision for several minutes.

Apparently it's very serious and can mess a pilot up.

Have any crashes resulted?

I have a green laser pointer that is about the size of a mini maglight. If it's used in a room the size of a typical bedroom, it will light the entire room up. I haven't really used it much as far as distance but I've yet to use it to where I can't see the pointer. The laser is extremely, powerful

I think it's Federal Offense for interfering with flight crew operations. Fed Code 20 or something like that.

Sounds like people are doing it around airports - aircraft landing and taking off --- and helicopters.

Pretty much an equivalent to dropping bricks on cars from an interstate over-pass -except the potential death toll is exponentially higher.

I wouldn't mind if folks who were pointing lasers at planes had all their fingers snipped off and then shoved down their throats until they swallowed them one by one.

How do you get the proper angle to hit a pilot in the face at takeoff or landing?

You sure as hell couldn't do this if the earth was round.

You didn't answer my question, which was this:

Did you watch the videos? Do you not see how that could be dangerous and put people's lives in danger?

The further the laser beam travels, the wider it gets. At the altitude of an aircraft, the beam can cover the entire windshield

I agree that anyone pointing a lazer at an aircraft is a d bag and should get hammered. Because why are they doing it anyway? To frick with the pilot. That's too dangerous. However I don't agree with their stance on laptops and cell phones at certain times during the flight. If my cell phone can take a plane down then it shouldn't be in the air.
