I can't understand giving kids participation trophies. And who are the pansies who voted 16-18? Jesus people suck

Why the hate? I keep both of my participation trophies on the mantel.

Have you experienced how hard it can be to get a 4 year old to go to baseball practice and games and act civilized?
Just getting through the season is an accomplishment for them.
So back off, tough guy.

We give participation medallions and to the winners go trophies. There is a clear distinction who are winners and who just participated.pla

On a side rant --> Trophy prices are crazy. We pay thousands of dollars for the league for cheap plastic trophies. I would prefer to get rid of them all together and replaced with an activity for the kids.

Little kids love trophies. Which is quite evident if you've ever given a little kid a trophy. They don't give a shite what it's for. Youre not giving them out for your benefit anyway. I think it's fine thru 7-8 year old leagues. Maybe 9-10 year olds. Then cut it out.

Stop it at 7-8. By, 9 they know the difference between winning and losing.

Hell, my nephews were asking me at 4 whether they won or lost a game. By 5, they knew on their own and would be crying walking off the field.

I was out walking the other day and saw a participation ribbon lying in the grass like a piece of trash. Should have taken a photo. There is a message there.

HBO real sports just did a story on this. Cliffs: it's detrimental to helping kids deal with adversity when you keep giving them trophies for just showing up after about age 9-10; trophy manufacturers are making a killing right now.

People act like this is a new phenomenon. They have been giving out participation trophies to lower ages for years.

Not going to lie, when I played T-ball I was excited to get mine.

That's were they belong. Do you get a participation trophy for showing up to work every day?

"Oh look! Little Johnny showed up for a game, give him a fricking medal."

I understand the tiny kids...something like 6 yrs old should be the cut off. NOT 18! 18yr olds heading to college.
