Due to the Heroin epidemic in the white community

Why do so many OTers blame the Drs. and the government for making it harder for getting pain meds and not the people for having self will to not abuse pain meds?

Because prohibition, of anything, does nothing but make the problem worse.
Making pain pills harder to get simply upped their value and pushed more people into heroin to feed their addiction.
We criminalize things instead of focusing on intensive treatment centers.

They blame doctors for making the scrip drugs easily available, then the government for regulating them and making them difficult to obtain, which causes users to go to the cheapest and best thing, heroin.
The whole self will thing is a touchy subject.
ETA: What fr33 said basically.
EETA: I also see your racist agenda too, and as a former heroin addict myself, the problem is just as bad, if not worse, in the black community. Difference is, more white people shoot it so it equates to more deaths and more publicity. Also, I've never banged and mostly was in the hood so my sources are first hand.

Once a Dr gets you taking the high power pain meds there is no such thing as self will.

What is the "white community"?

I always kind of roll my eyes when people blame doctors or the government. Junkies are junkies, no outside force makes them stick needles in their arm.
Not to mention the double standard when it comes to how *they* talk about black crack heads.

People who buy clothes from the Gap do a lot of heroin?

Because as usual, government took a bad problem and made it worse.

well, you know, personal responsibility only applies to certain types.
And I'll add that most of these young people using heroine did not get started by going to their doctor after back surgery.

Watch it. If you preach personal responsibility in our society today it means you are a mean, selfish, hateful person.

the same people blaming Doctors and the government for this are that same people who blame mcdonalds for obesity. Don't act naive either like people don't purposely got to the drs. to get pain meds even before they get addicted but just to get the high.

Exactly any excuse to say it's not their own fault

I agree with you. I think drug addicts are degenerate pieces of shite. But I downvoted you anyway because you are racist. frick you, StrongSafety.

The green Herons are beautiful birds, the blue ones..not so much. Are they only landing around white people? I can see how this might be a race problem, communication is the first problem. Does anybody here speak Heron?

You have to legislate for the lowest common denominator. And that gets lower every year......

Well, that's really an imperfect analogy.
Some of the blame for the opiate epidemic in the U.S. goes to the government for a variety of reasons, not only the pain medication policies but also a misguided attempt to eradicate hardcore drug use, a lack of treatment facilities, and a lot of other things. Just like the government carries some blame in the obesity epidemic as well, mostly through subsidy policies.
Don't get me wrong: the lion's share of the blame still falls on individuals. I've had two major orthopedic surgeries in the past 18 months (a reconstructed ankle and a smashed wrist with several broken bones), and I still managed not to get hooked on Oxy or Norco or whatever, but an objective overview of the problem naturally leads one to assign some blame to the federal and local governments. A lot of it is cultural as well. Long story short: in the United States, the government tends to frick shite up a lot more than they ever help.
You want to take a look at a place where the heroin problem is absolutely out of control due in no small part to state policies? Check out the opiate problems in Iran.

I am almost tempted to agree with that statement.
I had surgery recently and was prescribed percocet. I could easily see myself getting hooked on it - it was awesome - I didn't give a shite about anything. I would actually look forward to my next dose.
If I am really worked up over something, a Lortab and a glass of red wine is the perfect antecdote; but I never crave another when it wears off. After day 4 of that Percocet, I got a little freaked out and threw them away. Scary...
