We take home what we take home and for day to day activities we live off of $50-75k. Everything else goes to savings, debt, and vacation. It isn't unrealistic and anyone who thinks so is sadly mistaken.

It's just misleading.

You're not really "living off" $50-$75k.

Debt, savings, vacations are part of "living" IMO

Well yea, I assumed all of this was implied though.

Meh, this was your OP:

Just for reference me and my wife make about $200k combine but live like we make $50-$75k.

That makes it sound like you gross 200k but you live like you only gross 50-75k. While possible, it is highly unlikely so I figured you meant it to mean you gross 200k but only spend 4-6k per month.

You just don't want to be proved wrong.

Not to mention both of our parents live right up the road from us in Clarksville, TN. If you want to be mad that I got a 2200 sqft house for $209K then go for it.

You want to fight me? Now that is something a 50k combined living would do

Who said anything about fighting? I think you have a problem man.

This is very believable and I will not disagree with this at all. But to be honest it isnt really that frugal either. 50-75k actual cash for spending(after taxes, health ins, retirement etc) is good money

I never said it was frugal? You make a lot of assumptions and accusations. If I misled you I apologize but you seem to have issues.

My wife works for the government. So she has a lot of flexibility, her benefits are amazing and after a few more years her remaining financial aid will be waived

You two seem to have a lot of aggression toward each other. You need to either fight or frick. Get it all out.

50k no freaking way you are doing any of that shite.

3k take home
You said a 2200 sqft house outside nashville
That house will be around 275k-300k
House note is 1500-1800

So now you have between 1200-2000 left over
Groceries 400-500 a month
now we talking about 700-1600 left over
Utilities 200
Gas 200
Cable 100
Car ins 100
Phone bill 100
So now with 50k you are left with 0$ without any going out to eat budget or entertainment budget at all

Did you just do a complete stranger's budget with practically no information about his lifestyle and expenses?

When does one start "living"? 5k in bank, 50k, 500k?
