I love Directv, but I have a lot of money and don't care to save it anywhere else

It's ok. Really frustrating after a while when your receivers start responding extremely slowly. I swear I push a button on my remote, then I finally get the channel I punched in about 25 seconds later. Customer service told me this is normal. Other than that, the channels and picture are great.

Have fun losing fox and NBC when you need it. I missed opening night of NFL, part of the world series and another couple days of NFL games. I just switched from Directv to Cox and am happy to pay more. Also won't miss the crappy reception when it rains

There seemed to always be channel dispute messages when I had it, it cut out during light rain, and it took forever for the box to respond to channel changes. The picture quality is great though.

You guys must have had a shitty installer. Mine worked through a hurricane

Mine did too, but catch the right conditions and all you get is buffering. Sure it may only be temporary, but why deal with that. The loss of NBC and Fox when I wanted it, is what did me in.

Gonna ask a stupid question, but here goes. I hate Cox. my picture quality is terrible all of a sudden. After 5 visits, they say it's because the signal at my TV is extremely low. They say to my house, they have put the new cable. However, the cable that goes from outside to my TV is very old cable, antiquated, and can't carry the needed signal capacity (although it did just fine until earlier this year). They cut end off and showed me it only has one copper strand.

Then, they say they won't run any cable from outside to my TV because it's an old 2 story house, no attic, and it is too hard for them to do, so I need to get electrician. I hate them, been with them almost 20 years, and now have shitty picture.

ANYHOO, my question. If I switch to DirectTV, will they use this same antiquated cable in my wall, and thus, I will still have shitty picture? Will they run new cable, even though it seems to be very complicated? Or, do they not even use cables that run through my walls?

Thanks for any input.

We switched from Cox to Directv in September and couldn't be happier. The picture is superior. The equipment is superior. The service is superior. We've had some really strong storms the past few months and the picture didn't even flicker once. Make sure your installer isn't lazy and settles for a low 90s signal strength. My guy adjusted it until he got it to 100.

Laying in my camper watching directv right now.

If I had cox at home, I couldn't do this. Main reason I've stuck with satellite

Weather reception is pretty much a non issue

I had to assist/run a new dedicated coax cable thru hoise down wall to tv

Thiswaswthe cox cable guy
This ways the single straight cable was what the tv needed
