Driving US 190 from BR to Beaumont…

I’m going to explore a new route home from the LSU game next week. I’m done with I-10. I don’t care about adding time, I’d just rather a more open road on my Sunday drive.
Anyway…I know we will go through some amazing towns (Livonia, Opelousas, Eunice, DeQuincy). Is there anything interesting along that route? Great food?

Krotz springs got billys and kartchners
Opelousas has billys and rays but rays is closed on sunday
Eunice has t boys and eunice superette
Also a meat market in basile
(Rheas) and elton(mr t’s)
If you make it to eunice early grab a french bread and some chocolate donuts from rays bakery. Both are some of the best you will find.

The right lane heading from Erwinville to Opelousas is as bad as I’ve seen in yrs. Cane haulers have destroyed that segment of highway.

Roy's in Kinder has fantastic fried seafood on the cheap. Clean, great salad bar, good service. The fried oysters are the best I've had anywhere.

Stop at Joe’s Sandwich Shop in Opelousas. They make a damn good burger plus poboys. It is right on 190 on the western side of town where the two lanes merge back into one.

I wouldn't recommend not your mommas.. have to stay in Livonia when i take a train there and the service is slow and inattentive. the food is ok. You'd be better off eating at Livonia City Cafe for general tso's chicken with crab Rangoon!
There is a fried chicken place in opelousas that is really good though. Coincidentally it's called Mama's fried Chicken! And as someone else mentioned Billy's in krotz spring.. their pepper jack wraps are really good!

Kellys diner has a solid bbq lineup on sunday.
Chicken king in port barre. I like better than mamas.
