Driver hits gator at 4am. stops in center lane. 18-wheeler avoids hitting him but car behind 18-wheeler reacts too late.

anyone who stops on the Interstate needs to go to jail. Even if in a fender bender, move it to the side if possible,

I agree. Wrecked on the spillway because some guy was at a dead stop in the left lane. Couldn't get over and by the time I realized he wasn't moving at all it was too late to stop completely. Thought I was gonna die. I got a ticket.

I get kinda pissed when I see a small fender bender that happened in traffic (less than 10 mph impact) and the cars stay blocking the lane until the cops come.
There are signs all over that say move wrecks to the shoulder.
But people think the police are going to come and do CSI work on their car and need to preserve the scene.

i dont think they think they're going to do CSI work. But if you move from the scene it can turn into one's word against another.

Don't get me wrong i move, but i understand people being leery.

It happens really fast. You are driving behind a vehicle at highway speeds then all of a sudden, the car ahead of you veers away revealing a hazard sitting in front of you. We're talking milliseconds to respond in some cases.

Driver who hit the gator should definitely have cleared his vehicle from the highway and if it was disabled, he should have removed himself from the highway. so sad but avoidable

Another reason this state needs to go no fault, but that's another topic.

Was going 70. Came over an incline a couple miles from the 310 split going into the city. Even the troopers told me there was nothing I could do.

I was on I-10 E at night a couple of weeks ago, just about to get on the MRB. I saw a big camper with lights on in what appeared to be the left shoulder/median. Well as I got closer, I realized the camper was STOPPED in the LEFT LANE and some idiot lady was standing in front of it with her phone flash light waving it as if to warn drivers to change lanes. Thank god I was paying attention and thank god the right lane had a gap. I probably would have killed her and been killed after running into that camper head on at 75 mph.

I had a flat on the causeway once, I had to be that a-hole going 5mph on a rim to get to a crossover to change it. By that time the rim was already dead.

Sucks to breakdown with no shoulders like that.

Dude,

At least you kept rolling. This prick had no flat tires, wasn't overheating, and was just texting away on his phone. At a dead stop. Fairly new car too.

You weren't that guy.

Not as dangerous as a certain type of person that insists on driving down I-10 between Gonzales and New Orleans in the left lane going 55-60 laying down in the seat and texting on their gov't paid phones refusing to get over. Drove to Latour last Saturday and had miles of interstate all backed up between those inconsiderate fricks and 18 wheelers.

There are a lot of detsils missing to automatically assume the driver is an idiot.
