Still don't think oil ties into other industries?

I already posted in the 15 page thread. What global recession incoming?

the indices have had two 10% corrections in a rather short span. That has only happened three times in the last 100 years. Unfortunately, those occurrences were in 1929, 2000 and 2008. As you may recall, those were not particularly good years for the bulls."

For less historically inclined readers, each of these years saw major market crashes: One led to the Great Depression, another saw the air come out of the tech bubble that ushered in a new millennium, and one led to the Great Recession.

That's scary and anyone not seeing the signs is an idiot.

I know Oates. I lurked in that thread. I just wanted to post this thread to show the similarities between the oil industry & other industries across the world. They are all tied in together. Some on this board can't, or won't, acknowledge that.

So how do you stop it? Artificially raise the price of oil? Is that even possible?

Nah, have Iran or Russia bomb some of Saudi production areas. Price goes to $100 by end of day.

It's very possible, but mot legal in the US. The OPEC cartel has kept prices higher than equilibrium for many decades now. I don't think anyone is asking for price manipulation, just pointing out that oil price declines are much more serious than F250 and truck nut jokes.

Exactly my point for the OP, First Cut. Some people get it.

You let it play out. Oil won't go to zero and neither will the markets. We could easily turn around next week and have significant gains. The markets are a soap opera and I love it.

Using your logic, we should blame the heat in summer on thermometers.....
The stock market is not falling because the price of oil has dropped.
The reason BOTH oil and the stock market are down is because industrial growth is slowing worldwide, especially in China.
Brazil is already in a recession, Europe's growth is now a trickle, if it's growing at all, and China may actually show negative GDP for the first time in decades.

I'm excited.
Graduated undergrad in 2007 so any money I had there was at a height.
Got out of Grad school in 2011 so my initial investments have been riding a high.
If we go lower now so be it, I need a lower cost basis.

$29.13 at the floor so far today, I'm thinking it could dip under 29 at the end of the day.
