Was he shooting black powder or something? Where was all that smoke from?

Looks like he used a little real world logic on the first perp. The second perp seemed to be convinced seeing as how he fled the scene.

We need more of this in Metro Atlanta. Crime isn't necessarily out of control in numbers, but we've got some bold criminals walking around. A lot of them are young and incredibly stupid, and APD repeatedly tells us that the juveniles are just impossible to keep track of.

When these thugs reach a certain age, they are just like the young terrorists in the middle east. They are too far gone, cannot be reasoned with and have simply turned into subhuman scum. About the only thing you can do is dispatch them on the street or lock them up for life.

The owner applied logic at 850 feet per second to shitstain 1. Shitstain 2 listened and agreed with his logic and left the store.

Emptying 7-8 rounds of .45 ACP from a 1911 will create some smoke.

Not sure about that 1911 claim: looks like he fired 4 at each perp and the slide didn't lock open - he sure didn't act like it was near empty, either.

Well a .45 ACP is usually an 8+1. Any good 1911 carrier will have one chambered. Of course a .40 SW would probably have a 10+1 capacity.

Maybe a throat shot through the spine.

Incredible first shot.

It was a lucky first shot if it did indeed hit and do as you described.

I cannot tell by looking at the gif on my phone.

Typically you would shoot for center mass but, heat of battle, yada yada. He got the job done and he either hit brain pan or spine/base of skull because the bad guy went down and didn't flinch.

Shooter hit cervical spine or above no doubt.

I'm still puzzled by the glass blowing out though. Had to be muzzle blast.

You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to attempt to rob a gun shop.

So here's what went down ... we've finally got the whole story.

It was the day after Christmas, morning time, the store had just opened (notice the showcases are all open for restocking).

Owner and employee were stocking the shelves for the day, bringing guns out of the safe, etc. Two customers were already in the store.

Bad guys walk in and demand everyone get down on the floor or they would kill everyone.

Owner pulls his Wilson Combat 1911 in defense (with an 8 round mag and one in the pipe) and fires three shots at the closet perp ... hitting the bad guy first time 3 inches right of center in the sternum and then one of the next two shots, as the bad guy is going down, hits the bad guy in the face just under his eye. That one ended it immediately.

Dead bad guy on the floor was carrying two pistols, one a Glock in 40 S&W with a 33 round mag and the other a Glock 22LR ... you can see both of those dropped in the video.

Owner then fires four times at second bad guy who had taken cover behind another case and then runs out the door ... he is still at large (but they know who he is). Owner told two customers not to run out of store after second bad guy ... it proved prophetic as video from another store shows second bad guy turned at corner of strip mall and waited for someone to come out of the door to fire upon them, but no one chased so there were lives saved right there.

The shattered glass case was the result of the first guy firing a shot at the owner which barely missed the owner, went through the glass showcase top and lodged in the door behind him.

Owner was shooting FMJ (45 ACP ball ammo to those of us who served back in the day) in his 1911.

Owner normally was loaded with Federal HPs but but he had been shooting the day before and had not cleaned and reloaded his pistol with his normal PD load yet ... so he still had the ball practice ammo loaded.

Dead bad guy is from New Orleans and just recently moved to Atlanta with family. Family are good people ... kid was bad kid.

Other kid on the loose is from Atlanta and he has a record ... he is still at large.

that's sick. he could have just shot him in the leg and then called police. why did he have to shoot so many times? the bad guy didn't shoot at him first. unreal how in today's society people feel like they can just shoot someone.

This is not the first time this gun and pawn shop has been burglarized. In fact, it’s happened around 20 times.
At what point do you pick another line of work? Ferfricksake, he's lost count of how many times he's been burglarized.

Totally. Like someone said earlier, that was really hard to watch the first 50 or 60 times.
