As long as you get the color right, you're good to go.

Seems like a high quality laser copier would make one almost undetectable.

on a side note... the term "brake tag"...

I was raised to call them "safety stickers" or "inspection stickers" (or, 'go get your car inspected', but not 'go get your brake tag').

I assumed the generation prior to me (pre-70s), going back to the first license plates and tags, called them "brake tags" because in the 1930s to 1960s maybe that is all that was really looked at (can this thing stop, or is it a death machine?)

Anyway, just a curiosity where the terms, which all mean the same, diverge in our common vernacular.

52 and have always called it a brake tag. Used to bring my mom's car to the shell station on West Metairie and Elise. Pulled into the bay and they had you turn on the lights, hit the high beams (which was done with a push knob on the floorboard) hit the brakes and you were done.

Grew up around Baton Rouge and nobody I've ever known calls them brake tags. We call them what they are, inspection stickers.

I'd never seen 'brake tag' until spending a lot of time in N.O. post-Katrina.

I don't know what would stop someone from photoshopping a real one that would easily pass.

for a day or two, maybe. But if caught, the penalty for forging one may be criminal (whereas the penalty for not having a current one is, what, a $150 fine?)

any law-talking-guys/gals out there?

Plank Road used to deal massive amounts of fake ones back in 03-06. I remember the deputy that worked the detail at Autozone used to spot them from inside the store, walk out and wait for the person to return to the car and scrape it off. Had an entire book of them.
