Is Phoebe old, or have we bred dogs to a point of complete helplessness?

Take one look at that Basset in that picture and ask yourself if you think she could jump out of that after a week of no food or water.

"A community member said he saw a dog for the past few days coming up to his property, come up near him but not all the way, and then go back down a trail to a ravine behind the house," Carey told ABC News. "It turned out the dog was Tillie trying to get help for Phoebe, who had gotten stuck."

Carey said she immediately went out to the area to investigate and was relieved to discover Phoebe stuck in a cistern down the ravine -- and most amazing of all -- Tillie standing just above the cistern watching guard over Phoebe.

Later, a cop was called to investigate how the dog fell into the cistern, and shot both dogs

We had to rush ours this morning to the emergency clinic on Sherwood.

You're in good hands. Our Boston Terrier had a stay there back in February, and they nursed him back to health.

I grew up with two Bassett hounds. One day when I was in gym class we were running the mile and we each have partners to count our laps. I was keeping track of my friends laps when he came around and told me that my dogs were at the far end of the field. They had gotten out of our fence that morning and made it to school just in time to watch me run the mile. School was over two miles away.

I can actually best that ;)

In 1987, my Basset got out from our house on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. She had gotten out while we were at school and parents at work. After searching for an hour. My Dad piled us in the boat to look for her. He spotted her on the shore of the lake which was rougly six miles away from our home. She walked along the shoreline that distance over seven hours or so. Absolutely unreal how much ground she could cover in that time. For a Basset at least.

love me some dog.
my pit and my wifes yorkies are best friends. he sits back and won't touch his food till they're done, if hes locked in his kennel with food he spills it and pushes it out the kennel for them to eat.

or maybe my wife doesn't feed her little dogs and he feels bad

You need to lay off the fox, man. That stuff will make you paranoid and you'll start getting angry and abrasive over nothing. I've watched too many people get on that stuff and their mental faculties just deteriorate over time. Real sad.

Dogs are awesome.
Yeah I feel the same about cats as they feel for us. Nothing.
