Some purists don't even like seeing cairns in the backcountry because they like to find their own route. I like them in that sense, but there are only one stack buil...

re: Luxury Camping in Montana - tigers33
In the valleysis my guess, but living higher has the definite advantage of low to no bugs. I have no idea what the elevation is for that tent but above around 8,000 ft or so mosquitoes are rare. Elevation plus nightime temps make it hard I guess.
You don't have a clue what you ar...

re: Dear Jerry last night - tigers33
Jimmy Cliff was definitely my highlight. Harder they come is one of my favorite songs so that was pretty damn cool. Not a big fan of disco biscuits but they killed it. Heady was pretty dead on with his highlights. The morning dew was another one of my favorites. I know panic gets hated on here a lot...

re: Best shoes for hiking/backpacking? - tigers33
Yeah the 65 is conducive for the types of trips I like to do. 3 lbs 10 ounces but the suspension is great and the weight doesn't bother me too much. The exos 58 is a full lb lighter and I'm sure has the same suspension. Just checked out the aether and it's actually the heaviest of the 3 comin...

re: Best shoes for hiking/backpacking? - tigers33
I prefer a side entry so that was easy for me. Copper spur is a tiny bit heavier but you also get nearly 5 more feet of vestibule space. The neo air thermarest line is great. Also have one of those in my pack, not the trekker though. The osprey exos is 58 L and would probably be fine if you d...
