My inlaws have installed a doorbell by their back door made especially for that. It's right at the height for their dog to push. They have trained him to push it whenever he needs to go out. It's loud enough to hear all over the house.

Paige I was thinking about you the other day, I just imagine you as the perfect little rough around the edges a little white trash older women that I dream of. I think you should come to the Varsity Fri night, I promise you wont be disappointed. Some on the OB can attest, I am a good looking mfer.

Ill train your dog for free, perks of the arrangement.

frick that. First of all, dogs belong outside. Secondly, if it's inside it's going to hold it until I get ready to let it out, not ring a bell to tell me what to do. That's just silly.

I did. But he just lays on then. I even got the ones with the scent

Plus, it's no trouble to take him out. I just don't know when he needs to go

this is like internet dating when someone else posts an ad for a friend or their relative.

You can't deal with the dog. You have to kiss up to your gf.

You want to use "father force", i.e. discipline, but you are afraid to act manly, and give your gf reason to react to you.

So you cannot serve that dog at all. You are powerless.

The ONLY thing you can do that will work is to ASK your gf to take the dog to training and to participate when the training occurs.
Offer to pay. Do not take no for an answer.

The Chow has bigger gonads than you and is cuckolding you. Grow a set. And stop whining in public.

An Alpha wouldn't be in this situation, I'm not moving in with somebody. They come to my place. Take and hold the high ground. If they bring a pet, it's by my rules.

Hang a bell on your door: ring the bell, give your dog a treat then put him/her outside. Do this over and over - hell get he hang of it. You can buy these bells at a pet store or rig your own. I have only had one dog that never learned - to ring the bell to go outside. As for the barking, get one of those noisy air cans at the pet store - they make a loud hissing sound - now I just have to show my little dogs the can and they zip it.

Yea that's cool until the dog starts abusing the bell just to get your attention, and drives you insane.

I had one that rang it for attention for a little while... When he rang the bell, I put him out every time - he got the hang of it. Since I started doing this, about 15 yrs ago, I have trained 4 to ring the bell. I have had puppies that will pick up the behavior from the older dogs. I have fostered several dog that leaned to ring the bell and kept it up at their forever homes. Only problem I've had with this is the mastiff mix puppy I have now knocks the crap out of those bells and it's pock-marking my door... Oh well...

Every dog should be able to hold its bladder for 12 hours. If not, they should be brought to a shelter for the sake of the housing market alone.
