Well restaurants don't allow that. Only dogs.

why not? what's the difference? I treat my pet pig like he's a member of the family, and he's trained better than most dogs?

and i don't go to these dog friendly places and bitch. I'm bitching from behind a computer screen, b/c i'm not going to a place to eat and have dogs around me. I don't eat like that in my own house with my two dogs.

In my experiences, anytime i've seen someone with a dog in public and I walk by, the dog owner is eyeing me as if he wants to start a conversation about his dog. and when i say in public, i mean petsmart, when i go pick up dog food. Nothing like walking to your car in a parking lot with small median of grass full of dog shite.

Again...you are bitching about dogs in public in A STORE FOR PETS THAT ALLOWS DOGS. Anytime I'm in Petsmart with my dogs...I'm paying more attention to them and making sure they are behaving than looking at creepy, whiny dudes staring at me and my dogs while they are buying dog food.

Seriously your life is going pretty well if this is what you have to whine about. Consider yourself blessed

I see this shite going the same route as smoking eventually.

Like i mentioned last time this stupid topic was covered, how would you like it if i brought my pet raccoon to a restaurant, or a cage of parakeets?

Sure, let's use this terrible analogy.

Restaurants make themselves dog friendly or they don't. If you brought your pet raccoon to the restaurant, and the restaurant allowed raccoons, I'd have to decide whether I have any objection to eating around raccoons. I don't think I do. Perhaps I'd go, "I wonder if it carries disease" but then I'd think, "well it's with that guy, and he seems to be ok, so probably not."

Furthermore, I'd survey my surroundings, notice that there are probably some bums walking by that are dirtier than said raccoon, there may or may not be bird shite literally falling from the sky onto the dining area, and that I've chosen to eat food outside where things are inherently less sanitary (we hope).

In other words, I don't think I would care. But if I did, I'd decline to dine at the raccoon friendly establishment again.

Comparing a dog to a raccoon is so dumb that I am just going to leave this thread.

Leave your dog at home. People don't want to be inconvenienced by a stinking dog. I don't understand people who find it necessary to bring their dogs places.

I will order my dogs each a plate of nachos and a beer at zippys and there isn't a damned thing you can do about it.

The real gem is him getting upset at people that bring their dogs with them to Petsmart.

So you're ok with bringing other pets too? pigs, racoons, birds, hampsters, ferrets, etc.

And yes, I'd be fine with that tbh if they weren't chirping the entire time.

Pigs are awesome.

I have no problem with it, though I wish for the dogs' sake The Bulldog would not allow dogs on Wednesday nights when they have huge crowds.

I also would like the businesses to be a little more willing to boot misbehaved dogs or owners. I think it's a fine idea to have a dog-friendly area, but there are a lot more irresponsible owners and misbehaved dogs at these places than anyone is admitting in this thread. You shouldn't be allowed to have your dog off a leash on these patios, for example.

In Houston and Dallas the new trend seems to be babies in bars, which is far worse IMO.

Not true. He can go eat at Parrain's, City Pork or Jimmy John's.

I agree. And while my experience is very limited to only one restaurant in New Orleans with my dog, I'm making sure that she is well behaved. She's going to obedience school in a couple of weeks and is always on a short leash in public.

You clearly don't have a dog or mistreat the ones you do.

I have been going to dog friendly places in cities across the country routinely for years and can count on one hand the amount of dogs that were misbehaving badly. And rarely do you see them without a leash, and when you do its usually the old timers that just lay there.

I'd be fine with a pig at a restaurant. Smart, well behaved animals that can be trained really well.

Yeah I would imagine most people are not gonna bring their dogs with them if they can't be still. Granted there is always that person who just sucks, but for the most part...people with dogs are very aware of their dog's behavior because they don't want to annoy other people.

We traveled with our dogs last fall so any place we ate at had to be dog friendly(luckily this was in CA where there are many dog friendly places nowadays). Still...we always asked the staff if our dogs were ok on the patio and always brought our own water/bowls/treats with us to keep them busy while we ate and kept their leashes wrapped around the table/whatever so they couldn't wander.

So you see pets only being allowed on the patio, like they are now?

I just don't get why people want to bring their dog everywhere, and this is coming from someone that loves the two dogs i've had for the last 8 years.

Just seems inconsiderate to me.

I think it's inconsiderate if it's not a truly dog-friendly place. But places that are fairly casual outdoor drinking restaurants apparently like the vibe and encourage it. Ditto for places like Orvis that welcome dogs.

I feel it's the exact opposite of that.

If everyone's dog was as well behaved as my two, i wouldn't have that big of a problem with it. But even the best behaved dog will piss or shite in places you don't want it to, b/c it's still an animal.
