Can you use it in a sentence?

Gruntled. "Your mother was very gruntled after I was through plowing her."

Nah, I prefer the double negative "undisgruntled".

Never heard it used.

What's the origin?

Are there any alternate pronunciations?

It was in a board meeting. Older guy, giving his impression about a meeting with a client. Gave the rest of us the wrong impression due to his selection of adjectives.

I can't think of another word that sounds so displeasing yet carries a positive connotation.

This guy! It's always good for a chuckle in a meeting, and if people remember the one joke and one good point you make, you can usually just zone out for all the drivel nobody cares about.

I have used it on occasion. Never actually checked to see if it was proper grammar or not. I would also occasionally state, when asked, that I was "whelmed". Not overwhelmed, nor overwhelmed...just whelmed.
