Uber is a rip off for the drivers.

Used Lyft twice in New Orleans this past weekend.

I don't think there are any major differences.

And why should I care about that?

You can tip on Lyft. Other than that it's pretty much the same. In NYC most drivers drive for Uber and Lyft at same time

we alternate. if you don't use Uber long enough, they start giving you discounted rides.

Is the surge model similar?

I have not noticed a difference. Actually in NYC last year I noticed some of the Lyft drivers also drove for Uber.

I use both, no difference really.

I have seen that Lyft offers more deals that Uber.....at least that has been the case recently.

I've noticed anything unusual about the cars for either uber or lyft. Other than them being vastly cleaner than the cabbies, with more room without that stupid divider.

From what i've heard the only difference is one is more popular than the other in certain areas of the country.

Wasn't ride shares supposed to be alternative sources of income for people who were already driving, thus reducing our dependency on the automobile and traffic?

Not necessarily a replacement for a cabbie.

Lyft and Uber are the same in DC.

The main differences that I've noticed are that you can tip on Lyft, and Uber will give you the cost of the trip before it starts, whereas Lyft just gives the estimated cost range.

Lyft also doesn't surge as often as Uber in DC, and the surges are lower on Lyft.
