Wanting to buy one..thinking about going with the Surge. Syncs with my I Phone, is a watch, etc..
Are they durable, accurate, worth the money?

Just a hint there Warren Buffet, a fitbit is not a good "investment"

Wife has one. She loves it. I dont think it is extremely accurate, but it seems like it is more of a reminder to get off your arse.

I have a charge and it seems pretty durable. I like it, but I have a lot of friends that use it too.

I did not want one, but I got a zip for christmas from my mother in law. I knew my job was low-activity, but I didn't realize how much. I like it now and use it to compete with my wife for steps and stuff. I think the watch would be better.

I always ask, what are you using it for? Just tracking activity? iPhone 5s or greater does this without an extra app.

If you are looking for real time run data, your money will be better spend on a Garmin or other GPS watch. You can get a Garmin forerunner on amazon for $130 with heartrate montior, and it will be infinitely more useful than a fitbit in giving you relevant data. I've got a Tom Tom multisport because I ride bikes as well, has multiple modes. Obviously you can get as expensive as you want there.

The fitbits have a place, but before you spend money, do some research and understand what you're getting.

My wife got me one last Fathers Day. Waited for about a month and tried it. Liked the idea of measuring steps by the distance portion was so inaccurate I had to stop using.
I read everything and even asked for their help. I used a measured course and tapped the device so they could measure everything.
It was still off by more than 50%. After that I heard nothing from them.
Can't even sell it because I wouldn't want to sell somebody a POS.

My wife has 1. I think its value highly depends on your current activity status and goals. For example, if you are really active and healthy, probably not necessary. If you are looking to track activity levels, go with a basic model.

My wife has benefited from the sleep monitoring feature, but I cant say that makes it worth the money.

What are you looking for this thing to do for you?

Mine loves that sleep tracker deal and is enamored by how many miles she walks at work. That thing claims she walks 6-8 miles in an 8 hour day. That's hard for me to believe.

Measuring of steps and general activity. The sleep information would be helpful as well. Not sure how much, if any, I would use the gps. I appreciate the responses so far.

I use the vivofit - reads out steps taken, miles walked/ran, calories burned and your daily goal - which you set up on your pc.

I average about 10,000-13,000 steps a day which is about 5-8 miles. And I work in a hospital on the floor...so it's possible. Also...the pharmacists that work in hospitals usually are pretty busy so it's possible she is walking that much.
