I have had mine about two months I guess. We use it for our shopping list and it makes that function soooo much easier. Have used it for music in the kitchen before and has a decent speaker. I have several Wemo switches and plugs in the house so that's kind of fun to mess around with but none of it is necessary. It's a fun little gadget and I have no complaints so far.

$180 seems a little steep for something that is a basic "smart" device that has a decent speaker and siri-like AI.

So if you say, "wikipedia: Abraham Lincoln," like in the example, does it just start reading the webpage to you?

In an (almost) post scarcity society, you get rich by creating new needs, not by solving old ones.

Is there an iPhone app that accompanies the Echo? When you add things to the shopping list, I'm assuming it also syncs with a shopping list app? If so, then that alone would make it worthwhile. I can't begin to tell you how many times we have forgot to put something on the shopping list and have had to make an additional trip to the grocery store.

If it's as simple as saying a command and it's added to a shopping list, then sign me up.

Yep, just download it from the app store.

Yes, it is in the Echo app and you check them off the list as you get them in the store.

That's exactly how easy it is. She can hear me on the other side of the kitchen and in a normal voice I can just say "Alexa, add mustard to the shopping list." and she will repeat it back to you and confirm it is on your shopping list.

Got one a couple weeks ago. Haven't gotten a chance to use it much but the sound quality is above average.

The Echo has changed the way my wife and I grocery shop!

We never run out of things anymore. As soon as I notice something is running out, I simple tell the Echo to add it to our list.

With the app on both of our phones linked to the Echo, we both can see what is on the list and pick it up whenever we make a stop in the store.

It's also easy to set cooking timers while cooking, hands free. If you put something in the oven for an hour or so, you can go about your business and monitor the timer via the phone. You aren't tied to the kitchen, or even your house.

The kids love playing Simon says to get it to repeat crazy things.

I am about to install some home automation stuff so I am looking forward to that!

We all love our Echo!
