Doctors of the OT. Question about healing timelines **Update**

ETA#2: Went to the Ortho Friday and everything is healing as planned. Said I may have slowed down the healing, but as I told him, "I got a head start on the physical therapy that i'm starting" Sometime this week hopefully when I get the time to go sign up.. ... He said that the ankle is still swollen as shite and will be super sensitive for a good bit longer, but that besides the pain, I'm good to do whatever I can. Which isn't much :/
ETA: GOOD GOD PEOPLE... This is not a brag thread... nothing to be bragging about.... And I'm not trying to "wonder why it could be healing wrong". I understand why it would be healing wrong. I'm hear merely asking if someone has any first hand knowledge of a time line of the healing..... Sorry if I rustled some jimmies.... I understand I can look like a jackass sometimes, i'm alright with that, being judged by degenerates.
Ok it's been 8 weeks since I fractured my ankle. On the 3rd going into the 4th week I decided It was limiting me too much and MADE A STUPID SPUR OF THE MOMENT DECISION THAT IN NO WAY MAKES ME A BADASS. IF ANY arse IT MAKES ME LOOK, IT'S A DUMBASS, so I removed the cast from my fractured ankle.
Within a week(4-5 weeks since injury) of taking it off. I was able to bare weight on it and able to walk moving my ankle up and down with not too much pain. (More of a constant throbbing). As long as I would just take it really easy. At that point I just couldn't turn my ankle AT ALL side to side, or have my foot planted and go to turn. If I did, tears would nearly roll down my face from the pain. fricking hurt! Also if I touch the tips of my ankle bone on either side, it's super sensitive. No other spots have hurt like that. And it sucks because sometimes my ankles will bump together just randomly and it makes me want to punch babies with downs.
Fast forward to week 7-8 and the ankle is the SAME EXACT as it was week 4. I have the same exact movement and same pain.
Here is my issue, I missed my orthapedic DR appointment this past week and debating if I need to reschedule or If things will finally get better..... What I don't like is the fact that it seems like it hasn't progressed even a little bit between weeks 4 and 8.
Is this pretty standard? How long should this be taking to heal? With this type of fracture inside the ankle apparently, could I do more damage by being on it? Heal wrong and walk like one of those gimp legs.
I'd rather just not go back to the orthapedic. He is going to be pissed at me.
Anyone have any words of advice?
banged my ankles together and it has me wide awake at 4am. Also I have a fractured tailbone and that thing makes it impossible to ever forget you have it and to get comfortable, ANYWHERE/ANYTIME

Oh yeah Ben... I've got 2 broken ribs as well, but im not worried about them... Just have to make sure i don't get a cold or anything... About the 2nd week I came down with a little cough and that shite HURT DarthVader's feelings when he gets mudchecked.

Does Wal Mart have a 24 hour Optometrist you can see?

I sneezed the other day and thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. Things are getting better though
Posted on 12/29/14 at 4:32 am to bencoleman
No doubt and I've probably sneezed more in the last 2 months than I have in the last 2 years

It's going to take four to six weeks to get over it. I don't know how far you are into it. At first I was loading up on pain pills but you can't take enough to kill that pain so now I take some Advil and go on

I haven't taken the first pain med. Not even in the hospital. I took 800mg of ibprofen and when I left there went down to 400mgs twice or 3 times a day.
But yeah it's been right at 7-8 weeks since I broke the ribs. While not completely healed, doing much much better. What was crazy is the 3rd week they seemed worst than the 1st week.... Maybe all the other pain had me worrying about that so I looked past my ribs.
also have a fractured elbow, also fut th cast off but it's doing amaxint. threw a football yesterday. Doesn't hurt at all unless i actually hit the tip of my elbow

You removed the cast yourself?
You're a god damn genius
Go to the doctor

Never should have removed the cast. Never should have put weight on it before it was ready. Ankles are difficult. Do what the doctors say. It's for a reason.

What do you mean only a fracture? You do know that means broken right?

Sigh.
....
Who knows, he'll probably want some X-rays to make sure it's not healing in a fricked up way since you removed the cast early. It's probably nothing and will resolve with time. But you need to get it eval'd.

Go back to dr to get X-rays and make sure it's healing ok. Then ask for physical therapy. If you screw this up now you'll never walk right again.

You need to get an appt ASAP so he can hopefully undo the damage you've done without needing to bring you to surgery.
I'd rather just not go back to the orthapedic. He is going to be pissed at me.

If you were hoping someone would say don't sweat it, it'll get better. I just did.

You really have to ask if you need to see a Dr again after taking a cast off yourself??????
Think of how much weight one places on their ankle just going about day to day activity. Now imagine doing that with it broken. Go see a dr before you end up with permanent damage.

This is one of the more retarded things I've ever heard of someone doing.
Congrats on needing your ankle rebroken and the subsequent surgery and physical therapy needed.

Go see your doctor. Follow their instructions. Ask for PT for guidance on weight bearing issues and exercise you can do for your leg/hip, etc. so those muscles don't weaken too much as your ankle heals. Also, as your ankle heals your PT can help guide you through the recovery process.
Don't compound a problem from stupid decisions by making more stupid decisions.

Either you are trolling or you are too stupid to be walking correctly anyway..
Took off the cast yourself BEFORE the amount of time passed that the Dr wanted it on.....
And now all of these issues and you don't want to go back because your afraid he'll be pissed? Are you 5 yrs old?

I couldn't care less if he is "pissed" or not, just threw that tid bit in there about him being pissed.
I have a new appointment scheduled but noticed I have something else planned that day that I really need to work around, so going to have to cancel again, so was just getting a little feedback from anyone that has had any fractures in the ankle or possible docs that have dealt with it.
Thanks for looking out m8
