Am I suppose to stop lifting weights and just shrink to meet a number some people decide I and others should weigh? My Dr says I'm great and one of his healthiest patients. I'll go with the Dr.

I honestly don't know how people can get that big. And not from a looking down on them perspective. This is coming from a pure how do you consume that many calories perspective.

I eat like crap. I have always been a picky eater and have a hard time eating enough veggies and healthy food in general. I do go through periods where I watch what I eat and exercise, but a lot of the time, I can live off of fast food/pizza/etc and you could say I'll drink to excess a bit. I don't do small portions when I fall off the wagon either. I'm a shade over 5'11" and I don't think I've ever been over 200 lbs.

I am about 175-180 right now and I've been cycling and just started up at the gym again. If I work hard, I think I can get down to 160-165 and be in very good shape. But if I fell off the wagon and decided to live off of the Whataburger (and boy do I wish I could) down the road from me, I seriously doubt I'd brake 200 lbs. It would take a year of only eating that and literally doing no physical activity at all.

The BMI says I should weigh 155. I haven't weighed that since high school and only had 7% body fat. I think that scale is slightly flawed

BMI doesn't give you one number. It's a range.

I'm 5'8" and bounce between 180 and 185. I'd like to get up to 190-195

no, I do not count calories

I would kill myself before I did

I am, however, aware of what I eat

if I eat a burger with fries for lunch, dinner will be leaner, or if I know I'm eating an unhealthy dinner, I'll eat a salad for lunch

You can eat healthy and be aware of the food you ingest without being anal about it

I counted calories for awhile when I was being more aggressive about losing weight. Once I got a feel for what I was taking in i didn't see he point. It just became a game to see how little calories I could take in. I enjoy food too much for that

because you are short

5'9 160 is a perfectly healthy, normal weight

you would rather be overweight with fatceps so people think you are all manly and burly

it takes almost no effort to understand how many calories or macros foods have before you put them in your body

I can see what he means. When I get serious about a diet (usually only lasts about a week ), I strictly follow it. I'll measure out 6 oz. of chicken on a scale, etc. In that sense of counting calories, I can see someone never wanting to do that.

right

it doesn't take much effort to understand it

but I'm not going to whip out my calculator and say "well I ate 850 calories for lunch, so I can only eat another 800 calories for dinner, let me weigh this chicken breast and broccoli"
