food is the way it should be done?
7,000 acres of corn in neat rows you can see from space.
Subsidies for junk food, required certification for organic.
Meals traveling hundreds, thousands of miles before being consumed.

Porn is mass produced by means of Tube Channels. Its not organic.

I thought this was going to be a weed thread.

Lots of places don't have enough arable land nearby to support the local population. L.A. and NYC literally could not exist without massive food transportation.
And since when is corn junk food?

Is it bad I find it blasphemey to be combining Sub Zero and Scorpion.

Crops are grown more efficiently in certain geographic and climatologic regions. Also, only a few select locations are suitable for year round farming.

Yes. I also think that GMO crops are necessary to support our global food demand. Every year we have to feed more people on fewer acres, and GMOs are the only way to keep up with demand.

Corn products are used to make many of our junk food items. I mean, you really didn't know that??
Perhaps having 7 million people in a small pocket isn't the best idea?
Anyway.. large cities used to plan their outgrowth with food growing areas inside the city. That stopped not that long ago.
There could be more innovation into growing healthy-clean food inside cities. This isn't an impossible thing.
Of course the biggest cities are going to need to bring food in, but it could be drastically reduced -- and overall, across the board we could be doing much more inside cities and suburban areas to grow food.

100% false.

Of course I know about high-fructose corn syrup and its ubiquitous use. That in and of itself does not make corn junk food, as the healthy uses for cooking/feeding livestock with it are legion.
Having smaller, less efficient farms scattered around every city or large town that ever existed isn't feasible. If every community had to focus on growing their own food on a smaller scale lots of manpower would be wasted. Specializing is the name of the game.
And what makes the food you grow any healthier/cleaner? I've seen many a sad little flower/vegetable garden in people's back yards that I wouldn't touch.

Don't really care. You want to feed 7 billion people, its going to get a little ugly in certain points. I'm not anti-GMO or anything like that, although I thought there is some anecdotal stuff about how Europe would never let some food hit their shelves the way we allow it, like for certain meats. So, I do have some concerns about the "big food" lobby, I guess.
My only real concern is the way the whole system is entirely dependent on fossil fuels. Take away those, and we are in big trouble. As the peak oil dorks were saying 10 years ago, the 3,000 mile caesar salad will become a thing of the past one day.

Yes.
If you want to spend more money for organic or "farm fresh" produce and meats.....that your choice.

Yes. If you can develop a better way, have at it.

Seriously can't be stressed enough. As recently as 1900 (pre-ag mechanization, herbicides/insecticides, and GMOs) it took 40+% of U.S. household income to pay for food. Now it's around 10%.
So even if production was enough to keep people from starving en masse, you can safely bet that lifestyles would be radically changed by backing off of these modern methods.

Ok smart guy. Tell me how his statement is false and in what ways we can grow just as much food without GMOs
