You are sorely mistaken if you actually believe it's Amazon picking up the cost for that shipping.

This isn't 1997. Amazon isn't a struggling little .com company. It's a $165B company. They may employ one or two people who have figured out how to price their items and their Prime membership so they don't lose money on it. Amazon has accounted for the fact that having Prime increases the total number of purchases people make, and the total number of packages they have to ship.

But hey, if it makes you feel better, don't tie up the "grid" so my stuff gets to my house faster.
