If they remove their shoes I remove mine. I always take my shoes off before entering my own house and it baffles me that people have a problem doing the same when they visit.

When I am visiting family up north (Michigan), every time. It's culture up there to do so.
When I am home in NOLA, only if I enter and see all the shoes by the door.
