It just never happens for some guys, not everyone's grip strength develops the same. Any doctor will tell you it's very common and nothing to be ashamed of.

I would say around 14 I started focusing on how important a firm handshake and eye contact is. Mainly because I was chasing pussy and trying to impress fathers.

Before I can remember. I have a five year old. I was telling him/teaching him to shake hands at 3 and he does it most of the time on his own when meeting an adult now.

True story, when I went home to my future wife's for the first time when I was 19 in college and met her step-father apparently I came off as a bitch. Weak hand shake and didn't look him in the eyes, he told her that later in the weekend. She told me on the way back to college.

So at that point I realized I needed to do something about it. It was never something my dad worked on with me. So yeah, sophomore year of college. In the south that's starting late as hell I know.

firm handshake

stupid how important this is. One of those weird things in life. Know a guy about 45, never married, probably a virgin, gives dead fish handshakes. Nice enough guy, I don't have a problem with him but you'd think at some point someone would've told him to stop shaking hands like a 3yo.

I don't remember but when I shake someone's hand I like to curl my index finger and tickle the inside of their hand at the same time. I feel it breaks the ice.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was probably like 6 years old. My Dads buddy shook my hand and I was all soft and limp. He told me sternly, "Boy you better tighten up that grip and shake hands like a man."

My pops gave me a serious talk when we left his friend's place. Ever since then I always come in strong.

My dad taught me to do that as far back as I can remember.

He always told me after a while, i could work on points for style, like the club tie, and the firm handshake, a certain look in the eye and an easy smile. I have to be trusted by the people that I lie to, so that when they turn their backs on me, i'll get the chance to put the knife in.

A young lad.

Like 8. I always wanted to be an adult.

Ironically, now all I want is to be a kid again.

As long as I can remember, I was always aware that you had to shake hands "like a man".. With a strong grip. Squeeze the other person's hand a little tighter than they squeeze yours and look em in the eye.

I was about a year or two older, but I had a similar experience.

My dad would always tell me "firm handshake", but I didn't understand what the big deal was, so I kind of blew him off. Then one day his Air Force buddy came over to the house and I gave him a dead fish of a handshake. I don't remember exactly what the guy said to me, but I do remember the look on my dad's face was like, "I told you so".
