Guy that cleans the floors in our building is a pathological liar. Just makes up shite for no reason, always has to one-up everyone's stories. He is a gambler, and to hear him tell it he never leaves the casino without winning a couple grand, did I mention he sweeps the floors. This is pretty common amongst gamblers.

Worked with a guy who was off the charts. He couldn't tell the truth if if killed him. The truth meant absolutely nothing to him.
I saw where he died last year and my first thought was what he was telling St Peter when he got there.
He was amazing.. Would argue over the most minute details when the the truth was not up for debate.
We all celebrated the day he was fired.
Someone told me later he told people at his next job he left because he didn't want to take a promotion !!!!

You may have stumbled on one type of person worse than a pathological liar -- the one-upper. Although the two tend to go hand-in-hand I'd imagine.

One of my best friends from college. He lied about everything, even stuff that he didn't have to make up things about.

We thought he was the coolest guy for a couple of years until the lies started to argue with each other and got too big.

He was also untrustworthy to the extreme. My roomate and he signed up for a summer job guiding hunts in Colorado... he didn't show up. Any time one of us told him about a girl we liked... he'd sleep with her. He took us to his home town one weekend... and instead of meeting his folks and staying at their place, he abandoned us with his buddy who lives in a tool shed in the woods decorated with Nazi memorobilia. Said buddy had to go to work at 3 AM and we had to go from sleeping on the plywood floor of the unheated shed, in winter, to sleeping at a truck stop in a pickup.

He failed out and came back telling us he was working on assignment for National Geographic. He had stories about lion hunting in Africa, but hadn't ever left the United States according to friends of his from back home.

He had a sister who had died and any time you tried to call him on being a terrible person he'd cop to part of it and then start crying about how he's still messed up by his sister's death from years ago - it was his 'Get Out of Jail Free' card.

The final straw though was the all the instigation. He was a constant instigator. Always making up stuff behind other people's backs to try to turn all our friends against one another.

Once we sat down and put it ALL together, we realized we had been played for years by essentially a con artist.

Last I heard, his dad, who was supposedly a Texas Ranger and Baptist minister (the minister part was true) had had an affair (like father, like son) and he was wobegotten by the dissolution of his parents' marriage and using that as his latest excuse for drunken behavior and constant lying. This was 6 years ago, maybe some of y'all have met him by now. If this describes your friend, run.
