Fck their stupid rules.
I've talked to one mailman in the last 10 years, so I'm not inclined to give him/her a gift.

My son did want to give the mailman some Christmas spirit so he drew and colored a snowman picture and taped it up to the window near the mailbox.

Hell no! I should give gifts to my neighbors because they are the one's who deliver my mail. The POS mailman is always delivering mail to the wrong house.

I rarely get anything but garbage through the mail. No. My mailman isn't even great with his accuracy, so I

I do give my garbage men a gift, as well as my waitress at the diner that I eat breakfast in every single week.

I don't have many other people who serve me, to be honest.

I give mine twenty bucks each year. I know it's not much but he seems to appreciate it.

we gave tins of cookies to our garbage and recycle collectors. my 2 year old son loves garbage trucks and they always take a second to blow the air horn and wave to him when were outside. he gets a kick out of it every time.

Hell no. Imagine how many gifts they would receive if everyone did.

I worked with a guy who delivered papers on the side and he would rack up at Christmas with checks $$.

My mail lady is a legit fricking smoke show, I need to buy her something or have something delivered that lets her know I'm DTF. Maybe order some Trojan Magnums, although then she would be in for a yuuge letdown...maybe I should go with a Sybian.

Off topic, but our mailman used to stop on our front porch and shoot the shite with my friends and me. If we were playing sports in the street, he'd sometimes play for a while. It used to piss my neighbors off when we'd do this because it'd put him 15-30 minutes behind schedule.

Tape 2 envelopes to the bin lid - 4 $5.00 Sonic gift cards each. I respect those dudes so much more than any other people that come around.

not being a jerk, but do your garbage men actually handle the trash cans? we have a dude in a giant truck (who drives way too fast) roll up to the curb, a mechanical arm picks up the trash can (or recycle can, or lawn clippings can), dumps it in, and then drives off.

we give gifts to the mailman because he's cool about hand-delivering stuff, always hiding packages behind bushes or putting them in the back if we're gone, and making sure we get our stuff. the ups, fed ex, on trac, and amazon delivery guys do the same, but we see the mailman every day.

No, I understand. Our guys are 2 per truck with a rider on the back. The lift arms are in the rear and he simply rolls, hooks and lifts the can. I also see them often as they come later in the day and we wave say hi etc.

This is what I was thinking. That dudes sonic gift cards end up in the back of the garbage truck every year.

That's the way our garbage pickup is done also.

No. If I happen to be outside when the mailman or garbage man is passing, I offer them something to drink. Beyond that courtesy, I don't see why I should buy him a gift too

Maybe if you live in a neighborhood where the mailboxes are attached to the house and the mailman actually has to walk up to each house, I could see wanting to give the mailman a little gift at Christmas. But my neighborhood's mailman doesn't have to get out of his air conditioned truck all day. He should be thanking me that I still opt for all my bills to sent by regular mail instead of paperless, helping with his job security
