I got conned a couple of times so I don't often do it
Gave one guy some money and he almost cried tears of joy about how he could feed his grandmother with it. Saw him drunk that night in front of a grocery store.
I have a wealthy lawyer friend who almost always gives a couple of bucks. Makes her feel like she's making a difference.
Do you give?

Good Christians are supposed to give all their stuff away.

One time the Circle K beggar told me he wanted to buy beer instead of his usual lie so I gave him a few bucks.

I used to, but, see the same people over and over in lakeview and midcity everyday asking for money.

Same people rotating between the same spots. If they took half the effort they give begging for money and applied it to a real job they would be pretty good workers.

But, guessing the amount of money they make standing/sitting in the corner why get a real job.

Nope, make them earn their money like Jesus said.

I've tried given food away and they scoffed at it...I've also seen people give money away only to see the people take off in their expensive cars...

I will donate to a reputable charity. Not doing it any other way.

No. I refuse to help someone that won't help themselves. I will tell them to go to the local Labor Finders and make an honest day's pay.

I usually try and give them food. But one didn't return my Tupperware so I stopped.

I give to many. I don't give $20 to the guys on the off ramps or the artists telling me about how they are out of gas.

But I have this gift of intuition. I'll give someone a few bucks.

Once I've decided that I've got the cash to spare and I'm going to give it to them, I give zero thought in to what they will do with it.

I usually don't give anything. Case by case issue and depends on gut feeling about truthfulness.

I'll give some cash if they have drugs that I like. Their coke is generally terrible, though.

Agreed.

The government already gives enough of my money away to lazy people that refuse to work.

Meh. I consider trading your dignity for spare change a job I would never want and it leaves actual jobs open for people that want to work.

frick no. More often than not, most people begging for money do so because they have already wasted their resources and need more to feed their addiction. I know addiction is a disease, but I look at it as me helping them out more by not giving them money.
