Stop acting all aggressive with people you don't know and people won't figure out that you're just a coward behind a computer.

I have a friend that prays with them as he gives them the money and prays that if they are accepting this money under false pretense that he prays that God will curse them from the top of their head to the bottom of their feet.

People that sit on the side of the road at intersections? Hell no. Aggressive ones that get up in my face in parking lots that claim they just need gas money or a bus pass? Almost never. But homeless folk that I see day in and day out near downtown Dallas where I work? Yes. Most of those ones usually ask if we need help cleaning/carrying equipment or otherwise try to avoid bothering anyone and just want to be left alone. Those ones will get some change, a sandwich from 7/11, or a bottle of water b/c I know they are legit sleeping in the streets.

This is my new plan also. I have noticed the people at the intersection are well dressed and clean.

I am stealing someone elses idea of making them goodie bags when I go to those areas. Tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, maybe Mc Donalds gift certificates, etc

Used to do it but not now. Too many real needy people out there that are legit and more deserving!

Nope. They need more help than what a few bucks would bring.

I usually do. I'm not a self-righteous dick. I understand that most are addicts with other mental illness. Plus I just waste the money anyways.

I stopped filling up at the circle k at the north gate of campus because I get asked EVERY TIME for some change. Eventually I would see them approaching and would ask if they had some change before they had a chance to ask me. It was funny the first few times but even that got old.

I don't give money but I will offer to buy food. If they refuse the food I assume they are not starving.

I'll give them food on occasion. Sometimes a beer, but no cash.

That's actually great way to think about it! It's just their job. As long as Ithey don't get violent, who gets hurt? Nobody's forcing you to give. Seems like the worst job ever, but that's their choice. Frees up good jobs for the rest of us. No harm, no foul (making you feel guilty is not harm).
