No. Because I believe they will buy booze with it! I just want to get from my car to the office without being confronted by the decay of western society! Plus I'm cheap!

I used to have a parrot problem by my house. Ended up shooting a few, and this hawk killed a bunch. Maybe try that on some homeless? Does Teague rent out hawks?

Uh, that's not correct. It's IN her 7th trimester. Not on it.

Sometimes yeah.

If I have some spare change or a couple bucks I don't mind. I don't really need it.

Odds are they're gonna spend it on food or alcohol, and that's probably what I would have spent it on too, so I don't care.

I used to put cigarettes in the buckets when grown ups would come around on Elysian Fields asking for money for a sports team. They'd be there every day for a month or two

Not to people at intersections. I live in an area with a lot of homeless people, and try to keep a few $10 McDonald's gift cards for someone that I think needs it.

no.

One time took the family through McDonalds (the kids wanted happy meals) and there was a family of 4 standing right under the arches with a hand made sign "Will work for food" , what was posted on the McD billboard? You bet "Now hiring"

I bought two extra happy meals and got two job applications, each person in that family got something from us.

Asking them what homeless shelter they stay at and then donating directly to that shelter makes your money go a lot further and also tax deductible

Plus then you help people who are actually using resources available to improve their life

TLDR; no

If they are hungry they will eat what you give them. If they are in need of drugs or alcohol they only want cash.
Many years ago my dad brother and I stopped at McDonald's to eat breakfast( early 90's mcd's wasn't trash then) on our way to play golf. This guy asked my dad for money, my dad asked if he was hungry he said yes.
So pops let him get what he wanted dude got the deluxe breakfast, and a few other items. As me and my brother begin to eat my dad gets up and walks to the counter. That homeless guy was trying to return his food to get cash back and was arguing with the manager. Me and my brother have always remembered that and made us skeptical of just giving cash to folks. Just my two cents

Just drove by a bum that almost got money from me. His sign was creative and made me chuckle.

Now see, I probably would have given the "space ship crashed" guy some money as that did make me laugh. So...he is providing me with a little entertainment as I sit in traffic. Payment for services rendered.

Win/win.

I don't usually carry cash on me, but I don't really like the idea even so. A few weeks ago I was getting some gas on the way home from work. This homeless guy just asked if I would buy him a value menu cheeseburger from the jack in the box across the street. I bought him a couple and felt a lot better for it than giving cash.

Eta: there are places for homeless to go to get shelter or food. If you want to help then I think the thing is to give money to charity or volunteer. When you give them money you are probably just giving them drug or alcohol money.

A guy I went to HS with is always hanging out begging at the local gas station. I'll usually give him some change because he's honest about what he's going to buy. He straight up tells you he's going to buy alcohol.

I gave a loaf of bread to the last guy I saw but the manager of the grocery store told me to please not do that anymore because he just comes in and returns it for cash. Not sure why they allow him to do that, but I have stopped in any case.

If it's cold, I've given a pack of socks and gloves and jackets before.

why can't people do something good without having to get instant gratification from people? Who cares that you gave some bum a few dollars
