Do you give money to homeless people?

A facebook friend of mine posted a picture with him and some homeless guy on seigen lane. In the caption, he explained that he always has extra cash on him so he can help out homeless people he sees on the streets. He then said that it's sad that people don't do the same exact thing he does.
Do you give money to homeless people you see on the streets>? And if so, how often do you hand out money?

No and it pisses me off when I see people giving money to these jackasses at red lights.

Yep I do, and since I'm a narcissistic douchebag, I always make sure to take a photo and post it to facebook.

If they're old or missing limbs. I'm not helping anyone young and capable of working.

Nope, especially not the serial panhandler on a corner around here that always has a cigarette hanging out his mouth.

Nope, especially those panhandlers at intersections.

I flip the script and ask them for money.

No. These people can make a lot of money doing this. shite happens but there are people hurting more somewhere trying to make it honest.

Exactly, I'd rather donate to a shelter

You're friend is as big a POS as those panhandlers.
If people stopped giving them shite, eventually they would stop begging and the streets would be a lot nicer.
People like your friend are the reason people can't go anywhere without these bums harassing them.

No and I don't give money to people who have homes either

No, and I don't feed stray dogs or cats around my property either. All for the same reasons.

Your buddy is an attention whore, and did that for the attention. I give cigs to homeless people. Sometimes for free, and sometimes they pay me. Had one guy give me $2 for one. Thanks good Samaritans of NO

We have a pigeon problem in Jackson Square. Quit feeding them and they will fly away.

I usually just buy them a case of beer or pint of whiskey . Cut out the middle man

No but I'm not sure how to feel about it.
I could make a good argument for giving beggars money. I could also make an argument for not doing so. And since I like money, I would rather keep it by not doing so.
It's not really a question of feeling morally clean. Most people who take a hard-line stance on this, aren't very intelligent or haven't given it much thought.

No. It only encourages them and funds their habit.
We should round them up and make them have gladiator style battles. Bring back the coliseum.
