I think getting drunk alone is the first sign of a problem. Obviously once in a while is fine, but getting drunk all the time alone? No.

Drinking alone as in a beer or two. No way am I going to sit there and get sloppy with nothing else going on.

Yeah. Why don't they get to see this behavior on a daily basis to understand how society is really run?

One of the best days of the past year- My fishing partner backed out last minute. I put the boat by myself and fished all day. I drank the beer I brought. It was a glorious day, I could fish where I wanted, how I wanted, all day long.
I think I prefer to be by myself actually, fishing at least.
The Mrs doesn't like to drink during the week. Once the kids are in bed, I'll usually have a glass of wine or I'll have a couple of beers if I'm grilling after work. So I drink alone, in the company of others all the time.

why?
I think people have an alcohol "problem" when it starts affecting their life. If it's causing issues with work, friends, family, spouse, neighbors, etc then ok, yeah maybe there's an issue there.
But what if it doesn't cause any issues? I'm young and single so don't have people in the house to worry about. Sometimes on a weekend if friends are doing other stuff and I absolutely don't have shite to do, I'll get absolutely shitfaced by myself. And I LOVE it. Crank up some music, get something on TV in the background, pull up TD, and get wrecked. Those are some fun Saturdays.
