You know, like for vacation and stuff? Why so many hotels? Or are all these hotels mostly for LSU games, bowling tournament, and conventions?

I can't really think of a reason why someone post-college age would take a non-work related trip/vacation to Baton Rouge (other than for an LSU game).

ETA: except for maybe a wedding or something like that

Hell no. Maybe once they build the National Traffic Museum there.

The hotels are for parents visiting their kids at college, gameday, business travel, wedding functions, etc. I can't imagine anyone choosing BR for vacation.

When you look at this list and the top 5 either LSU or government related you can figure it out.

From a recent Trip Advisor article on Baton Rouge:

"Due in large part to it's highly developed highway infrastructure and efficient mass transit, Baton Rouge is held nationwide as a model of efficiency and can-do attitude when public and private entities join together to solve problems. The Central City area has bloomed as gentrification became prevalent there due to tax incentives offered by forward-looking city leaders. The city is rivaling Boston as the most walkable metropolitan area in America."

I made this up. LSU games are about it for visitors, unless you count evacuating from Hurricanes.

State government, conventions, business, LSU, weddings, etc. Just because there isn't a shite-ton of tourism doesn't mean there aren't a lot of visitors for other reasons.

B.R probably the only city in the U.S currently with a 99% hotel occupancy rate.

I've driven through twice and didn't get stuck in a traffic jams both times. It was awesome.
